Rivers Edge Storm Water / Surface Water Management Program Rivers Edge Services has developed a program that assists clients with all aspects of storm water issues. Rivers Edge employs several certified storm water erosion and sediment control specialists along with several environmental compliance specialists allowing us the ability to interact with the regulatory community avoiding our clients and customers costly project delays and possible compliance issues With the implementation of the new storm water regulations (WAC 173-200/204) by the Washington Department of Ecology, and the adoption requirement faced by all local governments by March 2003, storm water management has become crucial to the management and development of property through out Western Washington. In developing our storm water program Rivers Edge has interviewed several local government and regulatory agencies with the intention to get a timeline on their inspection process of current storm water systems for all types of commercial and industrial properties both in use and under construction. Several regulatory entities have started enforcing the new regulations by inspecting properties and educating the property owner/operator on the new regulations and necessary maintenance practices for their specific facility. Others are reviewing Ecology's requirements and will be implementing them over the next several months. The use of Best Management Practices (BMPs) still remains the primary focus for storm water management at most facilities. Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plans (SPCC) and National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits can also be required depending on the facility and effluent discharge location. Rivers Edge provides these and many other services to business and public agencies throughout the Puget Sound. Rivers Edge has completed several stream bed and wetland restoration and rehabilitation projects over the past 18 months, implementing the new storm water regulations. Work has been completed in cooperation as well as directly for King County and the Department of Development and Environmental Services (DDES) as well as several local property development and management companies. Rivers Edge has also reviewed and completed maintenance on hundreds of local companies storm water systems. The implementation of a proficient storm water maintenance program is key to meeting the regulatory storm water requirements. Rivers Edge works with each client to ascertain their facilities needs and how best to implement these requirements. |
